Statewide septa
SCPTA is working to build a Statewide Special Education PTA (SEPTA) that connects families, educators, and advocates to support students with disabilities and their families. SEPTA ensures every child has a voice, opportunities to succeed, and the support needed to thrive.
SCPTA's special education pta
The South Carolina PTA is working to establish a Statewide Special Education PTA (SEPTA) to create a statewide network where families of students with disabilities, gifted and talented learners, educators, and advocates can connect, learn, and work together. Once established, Statewide SEPTA will promote inclusion, strengthen partnerships, and empower families to become effective advocates for their children.
As the organization grows, Statewide SEPTA will work to increase awareness of special education services, resources, and opportunities available to students and families across South Carolina. It will serve as a resource for local PTAs, schools, and communities, helping to foster environments where every student is welcomed, valued, and provided with the tools they need to succeed.

Our vision is to:
-
Build connections among families, educators, administrators, PTAs, and community organizations to strengthen support systems for students.
-
Provide education and resources to help families better understand special education services, educational rights, and available community supports.
-
Promote inclusion and belonging by encouraging schools and communities to recognize and celebrate the strengths and abilities of every child.
-
Advocate for meaningful opportunities that allow students with disabilities and other learning needs to participate, grow, and thrive.
-
Support local PTAs in developing stronger partnerships with families of students receiving special education services.
Statewide SEPTA is being created with the belief that every child deserves to be heard, respected, and supported. Through collaboration, education, and advocacy, it will work to help create a future where every student has access to the opportunities, resources, and encouragement needed to reach their full potential.

We invite families, educators, community partners, and advocates who share this vision to join us as we build South Carolina's first Statewide SEPTA together.

A Special Education PTA (SEPTA/SEPTSA) is a PTA unit dedicated to supporting and advocating for students with disabilities, gifted and talented learners, and their families. SEPTAs bring together parents, educators, administrators, PTAs, and community partners to create a stronger network of understanding, inclusion, and support.
Like all PTAs, SEPTAs hold regular meetings, provide valuable resources, and empower families through education and advocacy. By increasing awareness of special education services, laws, and community resources, SEPTAs help ensure that every child is understood, included, and given the opportunity to reach their fullest potential.
