Begun in
1969, the Reflections program has showcased literally millions of
students' abilities in literature, music, visual arts, and photography.
Each year
students interpret a theme (provided by a student) through the four arts.
They may submit as many entries as they like; however, they must be a
student at a PTA school. Each entry submitted should have an official
entry form, signed by the parent.
PTA units
secure judges for the entries and select a total of 16 (four in each area)
to be sent to District (where applicable) and State competition levels.
South
Carolina PTA accepts entries during the Legislative Conference. Forms and
guidelines are all included in the Reflections Handbook, which is a part
of the Local Unit packet, given to Presidents at Leadership Training.
Visual
Arts and Photography entries are judged by area experts during the
Legislative
Conference and winners are announced the same day.
Literature and Music entries are sent to outside judges, and winners, as
well as District and Local Unit Presidents are then notified.
The South
Carolina PTA then presents all state awards at an event held in the spring
of 2007.
We have
been very successful in the Reflections Program in this state in the past,
with over 21,000 participants each year, and annual National PTA
Reflections winners.

Clean face
Dirty Face
Hair a mess
Hair in place
everychild. onevoice
All filled up, with room
to grow
Always hungry, and on the go
The latest designs, dressed to a tee
Tattered, worn out jeans with holes in the knee
everychild. onevoice
There's mom and dad, and
brother and sister make four
Having dinner, doing homework, playing baseball, and more
While others sit and wait by the phone,
Hoping someone who cares for them soon will be home
everychild. onevoice
All cozy and comfy,
tucked into bed for the night
On the floor listening to screaming and yelling,
Worried to death with fright
everychild. onevoice
The new school year
begins, children are sent on their way
Faces look anxious, others show dismay
The teacher scopes out her students on this their first day
She readily knows who'll be needing her most, she just has that way
everychild. onevoice
As our new PTA year
begins with so much to do
Remember...every child needs a voice - let that voice be you!
everychild. onevoice
